Giving rise to many of the other pediatric surgery sub-specialty areas that now exist, pediatric general surgery is not defined by a single organ system or a single group of diagnoses. Instead, pediatric surgeons use their wide-ranging skills to treat conditions of childhood that require surgery on the head and neck, the chest, abdomen, and extremities.
Pediatric surgery training requirements for residents in the general surgery residency program are fulfilled at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. The comprehensive clinical services at Lurie Children’s, along with the talented faculty and innovative research programs of Feinberg, contribute to an exceptional training environment. The advanced technology available at Lurie Children’s further enhances the division’s academic mission.
