Welcome to the Division of Trauma/Critical Care at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. The mission of our division is to teach students to provide outstanding clinical care for injured and critically ill patients, and to provide leadership and education in the fields of trauma, critical care, and acute care surgery.
The Division of Trauma/Critical Care includes five full time faculty members, all Board certified in Surgical Critical Care, a nurse clinician, and a physician assistant. Students have the opportunity to rotate on our Trauma/Emergency Surgery Service and a Surgical Critical Care Service at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, a Level I Trauma Center. Faculty members also engage in a variety of basic science, epidemiological, and clinical outcomes research. The Division has well-established clinical rotations for residents at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and several other area programs. An elective rotation for fourth-year medical students has proved popular with both Northwestern University students and visitors, both nationally and internationally. An ACGME-accredited Fellowship in Surgical Critical Care began in 2009, with positions for two fellows each year.
Our global goal is to teach students to create a fully integrated trauma, critical care, and acute care surgery healthcare delivery system. Ours is very much a team sport, and the commitment and focus of our division members, fellows, residents, and medical students have been instrumental to our success.
We welcome your questions and feedback. Please contact us for more information about our division.
