Surgery Subinternship
The Surgery Subinternship is designed to help medical students acquire the essential cognitive, technical and communication skills they need to be well prepared for the first year of residency, regardless of their chosen specialty. While the clinical experiences encountered during the rotation involve surgical disease primarily, the rotation itself emphasizes the multidisciplinary and collaborative nature of the modern approach to patient care that ensures safety and optimizes outcomes. Students are expected to function as first-year residents, assuming all the responsibilities and tasks done by first-year residents in Northwestern's programs.
